UNSW Library (UNSW Sydney):
The Library encourages clients to take their belongings with them when leaving a study space. Ensure unattended belongings remain safe and desks are available for other clients. The Library facilities can be extremely busy and it can be difficult to find a suitable study seat. The presence of other people's belongings, sometimes left for long periods of time, deter Library clients from using the spaces.
The Library may take action to remove unattended belongings from Library spaces. UNSW security and Library staff may patrol the seating spaces to identify unattended personal belongings. A notice indicating pending removal may be left with unattended personal belongings. Staff may return 30 minutes later. If the belongings are still unattended, they will remove them.
Left and lost property items will be taken initially to the Help Zone. Sheets of paper, food or similar items that could be considered litter may be discarded immediately. Unclaimed items held for approximately 24 hours are then taken to the UNSW security office on campus. For more information see Lost Property.
This policy will apply to group study spaces, seminar rooms and open seating spaces.
