Industry placements

UNSW Library offers industry placements to students studying ALIA-accredited courses in library and information science.

Our industry placement program provides students with the opportunity to engage with UNSW Library staff and gain insights into library operations, functions and processes.

UNSW Library recognises the value of professional placements in education and as part of this program, students will learn alongside one or more Library units. The Library is dedicated to offering a practical and constructive program that benefits all participants.

Each placement is for two weeks, with intake periods typically scheduled during May to June and September to October.

Applications for industry placements in 2025 are now closed.

Eligibility

  • Positions are available for students enrolled in an ALIA-accredited library and information science qualification who are required to undertake work placements.
  • Preference will be given to students interested in working in a tertiary academic environment.

How to apply

Students interested in undertaking an industry placement at UNSW Library must submit an application form.

UNSW Library has two intakes per year for industry placements. A limited number of positions are available. Look out for 2026 application dates early next year.
