Paddington Library

Located in the Paddington Art & Design campus, UNSW Paddington Library offers space for independent study and reading as well as facilities for group work. Paddington Library holds collections in the fields of art, design and media arts.

Public transport

  • Parking is extremely limited so we recommend using public transport to visit the Paddington campus.
  • A shuttle bus is available between Kensington and Paddington campuses.

UNSW Paddington Library is on the Ground Level of Block D and accessible by wheelchair.

The campus provides accessibility resources including accessibility maps, a visual story and sensory maps.


Help Zone

The Help Zone is located on the Ground Level with the Nucleus: Student Hub Help Zone. Talk with a librarian for your study and research questions and for assistance with any of our services.

  • Visit us for face-to-face assistance with your enquiries during staffed hours.
  • Search for items via the Library collection computer.
  • Borrow and return items.
  • Borrow laptops from the self-service loan lockers.
  • Charge your personal tablet and mobile devices in the device charging lockers.
  • Borrow headphones during staff hours.

Collections, loans and returns

Paddington Library collection items are housed on the Ground Level. For more information, see Paddington Library's collection range.

You can borrow/return items using the self-check machine near the Help Zone.

Return loans via the return chute located near the Help Zone. The after hours return chute is open 24hrs a day and located at Gate 3 on Greens Road.

High Use Collection room

Pick up interlibrary loans, DVDs and other requested items in the High Use Collection room located near the kitchenette.

Borrow and return High Use Collection items using the self-check machine in the High Use Collection room. Late return of these items will incur fines.


Study areas

Find a variety of single and collaborative desks, including booths.

  • Collaborative study desks include some that are height adjustable.
  • Two booths with LCD screens.
  • Bookable meeting rooms with AV technology (via Art & Design Booking System).
  • Whiteboards are available near the main entrance and in the meeting rooms.
  • Microsoft Surface Hub digital whiteboard is available in the presentation area near the kitchenette.

Computers

Use one of the Library computers, borrow a laptop or connect to Wi-Fi with your own device.

UNSW students and staff can access Wi-Fi throughout the Library via the UNSW Wireless Network (eduroam) on personal devices. University visitors may use their personal device to access eduroam (for participating institutions) or the UNSW guest Wi-Fi service. For more information see UNSW Wireless Network.

Library computers

  • iMac computers are available near the kitchenette.
  • One Windows computer is available to play multimedia.

Loan laptops

  • UNSW students can loan laptops with chargers from a self-service loan locker at the Help Zone.

Monitors

  • A monitor is available to connect and charge your laptop using the attached USB-C cable.

Facilities

There is a designated eating area with a kitchenette and a microwave. A water bubbler is located outside the Library. For more information, see Food in the Library.

Print/Copy services

Print/copy/scan facility is available at the Print/Copy station in the High Use Collection room. A help phone is located at the Print/Copy station for print copy scan enquiries. Further assistance is available at the Help Zone.

Add credit to your UNSW ID card at any recharge kiosk, outside the High Use Collection room or pay online. For information on charges, see UNSW IT Printing.


Toilets

  • Male toilets are located outside the Library.
  • Female toilets are located outside the Library.
  • Accessible toilets are located outside the Library.

Device charging

  • Personal tablet and mobile device charging lockers are located at the Help Zone.
