Our Libraries are open to everyone during regular opening hours. Members of the public can use services and facilities such as:

Studying at the Library

Members of the public are welcome to study quietly in the Library during regular opening hours.

  • Find and browse on-site collections.
  • Use individual study spaces, provided they are not in high demand, in use, or booked by UNSW students.
  • Access silent and quiet study areas, including neutral sensory study spaces at Main Library.

Library membership

Local community, UNSW alumni, and students or staff from NIDA and other universities may register to become a Library member.

Membership benefits:

  • Access print, photocopy and scan facilities, including UNSW Wireless Printing.
  • Borrow the Library's collection items available on the shelf.
  • Access some online resources via Library computers.

Library etiquette

The Library is a space for everyone, so be respectful of others while visiting. This includes:

  • Keep noise to a minimum, leave Library equipment in place and ensure your belongings are kept safe.
  • UNSW students and staff have priority access to spaces, including booths and rooms.
  • Visitors may use unbooked spaces for non-commercial purposes.
  • All visitors to the Library should not participate in behaviour or conduct likely to interfere with others.
