Recent Library upgrades shaped by student feedback

Our Library spaces have been enhanced with upgraded audio visual (AV) equipment, new monitors, and additional improvements based on student suggestions gathered from the UNSW Library group study room experience research (July-August 2025) and Your preferred way to work in the Library survey (October-November 2025).
Thank you to all the UNSW students who participated in our user-experience surveys and provided feedback. We value your insights and are continually working to implement your feedback to further improve the Library’s facilities and services.
What you wanted more of
- Equipment and facilities to meet diverse study needs, such as a balanced mix of desktop computers and monitor screens for individual study at UNSW Library.

- Up-to-date and reliable technology in group study rooms, such as USB-C and HDMI compatibility that allows you to easily connect to a screen with your laptop.

“It’s useful to have the screen because you can project notes for everyone else to see rather than turning around your laptop every 5 minutes.”
“The cable is too short and only people sitting close can connect to the screen.”
- Equipment to support multi-tasking and collaboration, including large monitor screens in group study rooms to view digital resources and rehearse presentations.

“We connected our laptop to an LCD TV for our presentation. It was really helpful because the laptop screen alone is quite limited.”
“We had a Gantt chart… the big screen actually is very helpful in terms of the kind of allocations.”
What's improved
- Upgraded AV equipment in:
- Selected study rooms across Level 4, Main Library
- All study rooms in the Postgraduate study space
- All study rooms in Law Library.
- Added new screens to some study rooms at:
- Law Library
- Main Library, including the Postgraduate study space
- Paddington Library in two study booths.
- Installed new monitors with USB-C charging cables at:
- Level 3, Main Library
- Level 4, Main Library - including monitor arms
- Postgraduate study space, Main Library
- Law Library.
