
James Conroy
Biography
James Conroy is Director, Information Services at UNSW Library, leading the Academic Engagement and Student Engagement & Experience teams. He brings extensive experience in digital strategy, enterprise architecture, project management, and service transformation across higher education, government, and industry.
Prior to joining UNSW, James held senior roles at the University of Wollongong, including Associate Director, Digital Strategy at UOW Library and Head of Enterprise Architecture and Application Services in central IT. He also worked as a Senior Consultant at Fujitsu Australia, specialising in legacy modernisation.
James has led major initiatives including the establishment of the first Enterprise Architecture function and Digital Foundations Roadmap to enable business transformation. Within the UOW Library, he developed and delivered transformational roadmaps aligned to the Digital First and Thriving Digital Library strategies. He played a key role in modernising library platforms and services while developing the staff mindsets and skills needed for delivery of contemporary information services in a global setting. This included launching the Student Digital Skills Hub, a scalable initiative designed to support digital and AI literacies at point-of-need, empowering students to thrive in an increasingly complex environment.
He holds a Bachelor of Information Technology (Canberra University), a Master of Business Administration (CSU), and a Graduate Certificate of Information Management (UniSA), along with industry certifications in service management, enterprise architecture, and agile project management.
