Purchase Recommendation Guidelines
UNSW Library actively encourages its users to recommend items for purchase. Your recommendations will assist in the building and management of the Library collection, one of UNSW's greatest assets.
Selection of Recommended Items
Purchase recommendations are assessed by Library staff to ensure they are aligned with the Library's Collection Development Policy, the research needs and the learning & teaching requirements of UNSW.
UNSW Library will notify you of the outcome of your recommendation via email within 2 working days, unless the recommended resource is a major purchase which may require further assessment.
Academic staff and students are also encouraged to raise issues or concerns about the collection with their faculty Outreach Librarian
Texts and Recommended Readings
UNSW Library automatically receives copies of textbooks and recommended readings once academics have advised UNSW Bookshop of their requirements via email.
Multiple copies are purchased for UNSW Library based on a predefined formula in the Collection Development Policy that takes into account the number of students enrolled in each course.
Lecturers should email firstname.lastname@example.org with their:
- course code
- session in which the course will run
- publication details of required titles
- whether items are textbooks or recommended readings
Any supplementary readings should be requested as purchase recommendations via UNSW Library.
