The new UNSW Paddington Library and Nucleus: Student Hub is now open. The new space in Block D brings Library and Nucleus services under one roof to provide a student-focused space.
- 155 seats including individual, quiet study and collaborative activity zones and a kitchen
- Loan laptops and the Paddington Library collection
- Bookable meeting rooms with AV technology (via Art & Design Booking System)
Library face-to-face Help Zone services are now available in the new Paddington Library and Nucleus: Student Hub space.
Paddington Library collections, including High Use Collection, audio-visual items and journals, will remain in the existing Library space in Block A until the term break in mid-May. To reduce impact on students and staff, the collection will be relocated to the new space during the break. Once the relocation is complete, the most used items will be accessible to students and staff on open shelves, with the remainder of the collection stored and available on request. During the relocation, we will announce changes and impacts to services on Library News.
While the existing Library building has been much loved, heritage-listed status and layout limit the functionality of the space and it lacks sufficient heating and air-conditioning. The launch of the new space in Block D marks a significant milestone and transformation in the Paddington campus student experience.
The redesign of the space has been completed by a panel consisting of Estate Management, Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture, Registrar and Student Services - Nucleus, Library and MCA Architects.
