Main Library - Level 2

Use this tour to help you become familiar with Levels 2 - 9 of the Main Library, Kensington.

The tour identifies library services, collections and student facilities.


Help Zone

  - Library related enquiries
  - Ask about borrowing and renewing
  - Pick up course readers and selected DVDs and CDs
  - Pick up interlibrary loans and intercampus loans
  - Return chutes are located to the right of the Help Zone and outside the Library for after hours returns

Complex research assistance that includes:

  - Finding information related to a topic of study
  - Refining a search strategy
  - Discovering relevant sources for a research topic
  - Locating and retrieving information




Copy & Print Service

  - Photocopying, printing and scanning enquiries
  - Pay library fines here
  - Add credit to your UNSW ID card using your credit card




Borrow, renew, reserve, return, make a booking

  - Borrow at the Help Zone or using the self-check machines
  - Check myLibrary
  - Login to book study rooms and media booths
  - Renew loans online via myLibrary
  - Reserve items via Library Search then login to myLibrary to confirm your reservation
  - Return items during opening hours via return chutes inside the Library
  - Return items after hours via the return chute inside the Library's Student Lounge
  - Loan periods vary, check website

Overdue items may incur fines & penalties




E-Pay Station

  - Add credit to your UNSW ID card using EFTPOS




Computer Lounge

  - Book a computer at
  - Find your position in the queue for computers
  - Pick up your print outs at the Print/Copy Services stations
  - Photocopiers and a colour printer/scanner are also available here

Using laptops on this level:
  - UNSW Wireless Network (UniWide) is available throughout the Library
  - Some desks are equipped with power points
  - Power points are also available in the lounge area




Group Study Rooms

  - Login to book a group study room
  - 9 rooms are available on this level
  - Rooms are equipped with whiteboards

High demand, two hour loan course materials and items reserved via Library Search.

High Use Collection:

  - Borrow High Use Collection items using the self-check machine in this area.
  - Return High Use Collection items in person via the self-check machine in this area
  - Late books will incur hourly fines


  - Collect and borrow books you have reserved using the self-check machine in this area
  - Return reserved items via any return chute
